Review of the Volunteers of the Edmonton FreeNet

Speaker: Greg G. Yeats, Edmonton FreeNet volunteer
Time: Saturday August 17, 3:30 PM

Over a three month period, Greg conducted a survey of FreeNet volunteers via email. After gathering a list of all volunteers thought to be active, he sent out a preliminary email inquiring as to their interest in participating. Having received only one "Leave me alone" reply, he proceeded to mail out on a weekly basis a short questionnaire regarding time spent volunteering for the FreeNet and how it was spent.

He received approximately 20-30 replies per week, with total hours contributed usually between 130-150 hours per week. Over fifty different volunteers out of the original 200 replied to the survey at least once. There was a substantial jump in volunteer hours during the World Figure Skating Championships in March.

In comparison to some of the other volunteer work he has done in his past, Greg felt these numbers were outstanding, and that the Edmonton FreeNet has a special breed of dedicated volunteers.
